Mosaic Art: Interviews

In my classes, I often repeat the words by Dostoevsky, “Beauty will save the world.” Many thanks to Ms Kaufman and Ms Dobbins at Nimitz HS for the April Mosaics show! It was fantastic! My students and I would like to learn more about the creative process and driving forces behind it. All contributors to this blog will be looking forward to the input from you and your students.

  1. Mosaics are artwork made usually from small pieces of paper then they are glued on a paper with little space between each piece. Then they are some made from glass and put for church windows. Artist make them with vivid wild colors at times to have things pop out at you. If you make mosaics with the right technique then they come out to be jaw dropping artwork.
I made my mosaic out of construction paper and painted on paper with different types of color. So the pattern could stick out more and caught the viewers eye. I also used different types of brown for the mountains in the background making it the main focus.
I like how the mosaic of the Dallas skyline is put together from the colors, the reflection on the river, and how its like real thing. The colors of the building are like the ones on the sky scrappers in downtown. Then the reflection is well done with the lighter color of the building showing on the river making it like an actually reflection on the Trinity river.

  2. I decided to do a mosiac that would have like a rainforest theme. I did the long grass and the and the mud with some water. I also made a snake like if it was moving out the water into the long grass.
I used some long little pieces of paper and some reall small ones. Mostly i used typical colors like the mud was brown and the water blue and the grass green. I made the snake red with and it was pretty long it took about the whole paper in length.
I really liked doing the mosiacs beacuase it wasnt that complicated. At first i thought that my idea was of the rainforesr was going to be hard. At the end it didnt come out that bad and it looks pretty good.

  3. The Butterfly mosaic gives off a happy and positive vibe. The portrayal of the butterfly flying from flower to flower is one that reminds me of a fun spring day in the park. The artist does a great job contrasting colors to make the mosaic pop-out and catch your eye.

The Tiger mosaic is very interesting; you have a fierce tiger, while at the same time the scenery is very friendly. The water creates a sense of flow, it feels as if the tiger is ready to pounce on unsuspecting prey. The flower in the background along with the grass adds to the scenery, it seems like a jungle environment. The patters on the tiger are also shown very well.

The Windmill mosaic is a beautiful piece that can represent many things. The trail to the windmill is like the trail of life it has bends and curves, maybe even a few rocks; but if you learn to enjoy it, its not that bad. The windmill represents father time. As the windmill turns so does the clock of life. The wind blowing and stopping is like the things in our life; sometimes everything happens so fast, while other times it’s very slow.

  4. the mosaics are very hard to make. They are also very fun to make. When I made my mosiac I made something that I would like to do. When I made it I tried to make it realistic by making the colors with different shades. I first drew the picture on the piece of paper. Then I put the pieces of paper on the drawing. When i had a lot of pieces of paper the picture started to come. Mosaics are very cool to make. It’s a art style that is cool and exciting

  5. To make a mosiac first you draw a picture with chalk on a black sheet of paper. Then you glue pieces of paper on the picture. My mosiac was a a dinosaur thing i worked hard on it and when i was almost done i lost it. I liked the mosaic on dallas because it was colorful and it looked like it took hard work and a long time to make.

  6. The mosaic with the dallas skyline really impacts me to see how beautiful our downtown really is. The light that are projected onto the water is really a magnificent view. I dislike the colors the reason why is that they could be more realistic instead of a diffrent color which i feel make it plain in a way.

  7. My favorite mosaic of the ones that is here is the the reflected buildings image. The comparison to the Dallas skyline is remarkable and evident. The color contrast between the water and buildings really give notice to differece in detail.
My second favorite piece of work is the boat scene. This image is very trite and the seeming voyage of the boat, feels to me that it is coming to end. I feel that the nearing of land and direction give me this idea.
Overall I feel that mosaics are great ways to show creativity and expression. Mosaics can be alot more fun creating than other types of art. i really like making mosaics becuause they can say and be something great with little pieces of ideas and paper.

  8. I like the mosaics because you can make a picture with smaller pieces that you glue on. The mosaics are really colorful.
I really like the downtown dallas mosaic. It’s really colorful. I like how the city reflected over the water.

I like the mosaics but i hate the procces and it was messy.

  9. First of all I liked to do the mosaic because you get to put little peaces of paper of all colors to look beutiful.
To start a mosaic I first looked for things that interested me. I looked for circles, figures and over exagerated drawings to give myself an idea. I think mosaics are interesting because you get to darw in a black peace of paper an chalk and draw wahtever you want. I saw my classmates their beutiful mosaics alot of then=m were beutiful with alot of colors diferent animals, places, and all kinds of drawings. We cut alot of different bright colors and glue them in the drawing. I did a butterfly I like it alot I put diffent colors int and some flowers aroun it.
All the mosaics in the website are all artistics. The most that I like is the one of Downtown of Dallas and the one of the butterflies I just like them alot. All the mosaics were creative.

  10. thwe first thing, i thinks, its not interesting to me, i end up love the mosaic. the mosaic is amazing and very creative. this also is something new to me that i have learned is the reason why i research about the mosaic. i was in interesting with that.

mosaic first appeared in Egypt about 1400 B.C. and has been produced intermittently for 3,500 years up to the present day. The technique gained popularity in different areas of production, usually for short periods.

First off I would like to say I like the simplicity of the mosaic art style in general. The art style is simple, yet elegant. There are endless possibilities to making the mosaic style your own.
In my mosaic I didn’t get a chance to use painted paper, but instead I used a variety of construction paper to create the image of a lion roaring. I started off drawing my image with chalk. I decided to cut the paper in shapes that complemented the other shapes I used; the end result, in my opinion, was very good.
In the examples shown above, they did pretty much what I did, but in a different way.. mine looked almost like some older examples of stained glass in churches. In the end I believe mosaic art is one of my favorite style of art.

  12. I think the dallas syline mosaic is good. I like the way they did the reflection of the skyline. We had a project in my art class we had to do a mosaic. My mosaic was a duck it looked awesome but someone ended up ripping the paper. The next day we came to class i couldnt find my mosaic. I had lots of fun doing the mosaic it was interesting and artistic. We had to draw something than we had to rippe little pieces of paper. then we had to fill the design with the ripped papers. I took us about a week to finished but the experience was good.

    • I think the Dallas downtown mosaic is very intersting and artistic. I like the way that they did the reflection of the Dallas downtown buildings. I liked the way that they used different colors to symbolize the actual buildings in our downtown area. I also like how they did it in the dark, thats when downtown dallas lights up the most. It looks good and it looks like they put lots of effort and time on it.
I also like the boat mosaic it looks like they really put lots of tought into it. They used little pieces of paper to brig it to life. The sky looks realistic because the sky is not just blue its also white and different shades of other colors. The boat look like it camed from a long journey and it makes me want to go and travel.
I did a mosaic project mine was about a duck. I drew the duck because to me it symbolizes friendship. Ducks are always togheter like family. I wished i could of finished my mosaic but, unfortunally i couldnt find it. It took lots of time and effort and for someone to just take it realy makes me mad. 😦

To me art is amazing in it’s many ways it is formed. The art pictures above are very creative. This is something new to me that i have learned. It’s shocking how you can make art out of anything. Art is to me a form of expressing emotions that you feel inside. That you can let out through art, either by drawling, and also writing. Art forms give you the imagination and the creativity that is in your mind, but out loud. For me i right when ever I’m in my emotional modes. Away to get the things out on paper. Drawling is when i feel creative, and want to see exactly how it would look. To me I am greatful for such a way to get everything out of my system. Art is very specail to me in it’s many ways it can be formed.

  14. I think it is amazing how you can take tons of little peices of paper and put them together to form a beautiful peice of artwork. But that’s what art is, isn’t it. Creating something amazing out of whatever you have at hand and using your imagination. I especially like the one of Dallas skyline and its reflection. The little details like how the reflections’ colors are a little more dull than the actual buildings’ and how the color of the water is lit up from the light of the city just makes it that much better. I would have liked to do this project very much. I probably would have re-created the Mona Lisa or another famous peice of art, the best I could, and changed up the colors and design. All of these look very good and I bet it was fun to do. Good job every one!!!

  15. Those mosaics took alot of time and effort. I was literally next to my friend while he did his boat. The time he put into it was astonishing. He made sure that nothing except the water was black. He later finished the water by the way.
The hardest part was finding the right pieces so that it wouldn’t look all blocky and ugly. It felt like forever just starting it. Not to mention the mess on your hands was bad. The mosaic was probably one of the hardest projects I had.
The overall project was a good experience. Even though I didn’t finish, I liked what I had done. Definitely not an easy project. The best part of the art is after you stop, you can see how all those pieces make one stellar image. That’s something to be proud of.

  16. A mosaic is a picture made out of litte bits of paper.it looks really nice if you use alot of color and shapes.when creating a mosaic you should use your imgination and put your own mix to it.
When i started my mosaic i thought of a picture that made me happy something that i enjoy. i love flowers so my picture was a garden. i put alot of colors and shapes to make sure i made it my own.
This was a really good project because it was nice to see what everyone else came up with. they used so much colors and shapes. alot of them took it really serious and and really got in to it.

    • What i like in my mosaic is the time you take to do and make a beautiful picture. so putting alot of little pieces in the art work makes it all the more better. Also finding something to make the picture out of was quite interesting.
For my mosaic i make a snake. i put alot of little pieces in it to make it look better then what it was but unfortunately i didnt get to finish mine. but if i did i know it would have turned out really good.
In the mosaic’s shown here, to me are really good. i like all the detail and the hard work put into it. and along to that the over all big pictures are really good.

there are alot of beautifel mosaics on this website but i like this one the most.to me it explains so much and it has so much meaning as if they really put heart into what they were doin.its like they were trying to capture a real veiw of the city.

this peace is very interesting and unique. when i layed my eye on it i could see that the artist tried to make a point about how they was going ton create this.the details are neat and the project its self is just amazing if it was up to me i think this would have to be in an art gallery.

I honestly don’t think the pictures posted are all that great . they definitly could have been better if they spent more time on it .and the teacher really didn’t try to push any of the students to do any better.
I didn’t really like this assignment cause it took alot of concentration . also it gave me a headache XD haha. i think if i would have tried harder on mine though it would have looked really good (:

This project was very time consuming.Cutting each little piece and glueing each little piece was alot of work. For my mosaic I did two hibiscus flowers. It was looking really good but I didnt get to finish, like most of the class! Most of the pictures that I saw that were finshed looked really good!Looking for the pictures to do the mosic was also very fun. Going through and trying to figure out what would look good was engaging.

  17. I like the mosaic with the city. I like it because they made it look like the buildings were reflecting off the water. They used dark colors for the original building an light colors for the reflection.
They made the reflection look realistic because it shows contrast between the light and dark colors. I see that the artist of this mosaic was trying to capture the real view of a city.
In the picture the artist made it during the night. I think he made it during the night because it makes the lights off the building.

The one that i really like is the first one. i really don’t know what it is but i like it because the picture makes your eye move around.I also like the way the colors look together.Like how the water at the bottom is mixed with the grass.i wished they had more detail added to the fish so when i look at it i could figure what it was.

  20. the one that i liked the most was the mosaiq of the dallas skyline. i think that one is the most interesting one. mainly because i see those buildings often and its kool to see someone did a mosaiq of them.

it also looks like it took alot of time and effort. all the piecies are carefully put together and are very organized. i especially like the green building and the reunion tower ball!

the other thing that i like about the mosaiq is how it shows the illusion of buildings refletcting off of water. this shows that the artist took more time into really adding detail in it. over all its a good looking piece of art.

  21. Mosaics are small pieces of paper put together. Together they make a nice picture. The pieces of paper are usually small and diffrent colors. They use many little papers for these kinds of art work. I got my idea from bird. The bird i chose was a parrot. The reason I chose this bird was because it is really colorful. It’s probably the colorfullest bird out there. In the end my mosaic came out okay. It needed a bit more color and less space in between the paper.

    • I really also like the dallas skyline one. It was really colorful almost like dallas is at night. the refletion on the water looked pretty good. As well as the buildings.
I think it might have been the best one there. Although it might have used a bit more color. It was really good the other mosaics were really good too. The other one that I liked was the one all the way at the top because it was put together very nicely.

  22. Mosaics are simply cut up pieces of paper that make up a picture. A great mosaic would contain alot of colors and different sizes of cut up pieces. It also has to make up an interesting picture. I chose to draw the Dallas skyline because it was an interesting picture, and I thought the reflection across the water of the buildings looked nice.
First off, I started by searching pictures that I could draw and use to put the mosaic together. That’s when I came across the Dallas skyline, it had nice colors. I drew that picture on a black paper with chalk. Then I started cutting pieces of paper, big and small, all kinds of different shapes and sizes. After you’ve got all the pieces your going to need, you just start gluing the little pieces on the paper to form your drawing. It takes a lot of patience and time, but when you are finished the picture will look great!
My mosaic turned out better than I thought it would. I was starting to think it wouldn’t look like the Dallas skyline, but you were able to tell what the picture was. I liked how I used lighter colors on the bottom to show that it was the reflection of the buildings on the water. I could’ve added some kind of background on the top half instead of leaving it black, but I still thinks it looks pretty good because it was supposed to be nighttime anyways.

When i see buildings i try to invision what it took to create that piece of art, and how much effort was needed to make that dream possible. So I really enjoy viewing peices of art that depict my passion.

But what i did do was pretty good, i think. I went for a kind of worn down look for it with faded greys and rusty looking browns. It turned out well and i tried to contrast with a blue sky background. Unfortunatly i didn’t get to finish that. I really enjoyed this project because it took skill and pacience to finish it.

The one with the pink floyd thing is pretty badass, the way he made it looks amazing. Its crazy how creative the artists were when they made them. The themes are just out there kind of things espaecailly the names.

I wouldn’t have the patience to cover the entire page of paper with tiny little pieces i just don’t have the patience to do that. The landscape was added so it would give it some background effect, or somthing that goes on behind the the picture. The landscape was more of the huskeys natural habitat, snow, mountainous features.
I have seen others Mosaics and i have thought that thiers had alot of colors and good texture going on. some used very little peices that took alot of work in my opionion and others used big pieces, and miscellanious colors showing they dont care about it. I personally still think there picture was pretty decent, and others were fantasic.

Also green for the weeds and plants and blue for the ocean water. i especially like this art peace because personaly i love the ocean i think its the most increadabele thing thats on earth, because its full of treasures and undiscovered things 🙂
I also see a whale witch has alot of blues that look beautiful together. The background is black with for me means that the ocean has alot of hidden things that are yet to be discovered.

Thinking outside the box method was used in creating these marvlous photos. Besides the idea of the photo the colors that come alive when combined in each is a thing that true artist apreciate.

It was very interesting that the water was black instead of blue? The pieces in each section fit very well together. The placing of the sail boat made it become the center of the piece.
Since the boat was the center of the art work it was made bigger than the rest of the details. The piece was very creative and interesting to look at. The art work helps create a detailed story in your mind.

  37. We both loved working on the mosaics this year. It was a different peice of art that we had never made before. Our mosaics were a flower and a cowboy boot. They were very colorful and unique in their own ways.

The mosaics pictured are all different. One is symmetrical, another is colorful, and some were crazy. We cut out different shapes out of scrap paper and paintings, and tried to see the best way all the pieces fit together.

Working on the mosaics took a lot of patience and concentration. It took a long time to figure out how to make the design out oof hundreds of little pieces of paper. It was difficult making them, but the end result was worth it.

  38. I have done a mosaic myself, and I for one wish that mine had turned out as nice as these. These are very well done and great ideas. The buildings at night with their reflections in the water look amazing. The windows with their lights on also look great, they were placed perfectly. I enjoy looking at other peoples work. The ideas coming to life is an interesting thing to watch. Imaginations are one of the most extroadinary things on earth. They are able to create great things from nothing.

  39. Each of these pictures have their own unique style. I enjoy looking at all of these pictures when I am viewing them. The colors are choosing perfectly and go with each other.

I like the butterfly picture because of the colors that they put together. To me, it shows how the butterflys stick with each other and I like that.

I like the mosaic with the building because of the colors and the view of the reflection. The colors are greatly represented in the picture.

I also like the other ones.

  41. I decided to draw animals in my work because of my admiration towards them. I think that animials are very fun and neat to sketch.
The colors I decided to color had nothing to do with the appropriate colors for the animals I was drawing. Why? Because of the fact that it is MY drawing and if i want to color a animal a different color then I can.
I didn’t learn much from the assignment but what I did learn is that drawing takes your mind to a differnt world.

  42. I made my picture about animals because i think that animals are cool and they are fun to draw. its fun to draw thier different expressions.
I chose the diferent colors because you cannot just pick random colors to do thier environment. the colors are special to the landscape.
The thing i learned from the end of this is that you have to be careful to everything you do when you are replicating a picture. you can have your own input but you cant make things to where they are confusing to the viewer.

i didn’t like the dallas one much. it was kind of weird. but it looked okay so i wont judge. But all were good!

  44. All of these pieces in this mosaic collection are absolutely amazing. They have such detail and imagery and they are truly a treasure of the art 1 classes this year. There are many good works in this collection and it was neat to see them posted in the library and even cooler to see them posted in this blog.

Having created a mosaic myself, it is really meaningful to see how people have responded to this art and how much they like it. Even though my piece was not chosen for this blog, I know all the hard work that it took to create this project. I spent many hours on my mosaic, just like every other person in the class.

I can not express how meaningful it is to see the mosaics held in such high esteem around the school. It is cool to see that although Ms Kaufman is not in our art class, her teaching a discipline is still shining through in our work. Thanks to all that have helped these mosaics gain popularity around our campus.

  45. Last year I was in Art1 and was able to participate in the mosaic project. My mosaic was a Nimitz Viking man. I started it off really good and liked it alot. I just didn’t put alot of time into it and didn’t finish because school just ended.

The most outstanding about mosaics is the tile like pattern that you create to form your picture. With different types of shades for your color and different cut outs of shapes, is just a great combination to the piece of art. Overall mosaic’s are great and I wish I had completed mine.

Even though mosaic’s are cool, I didn’t finish because of time. Well the whole time cosuming part was because of fustration. The whole cuting pieces of paper into really small pieces and gluing them in certain spots. Was just a big headache to me. Thats why I didn’t finish but I wish I would. The students art piece’s above aren’t really that great preety ugly if you ask me. But I got to give it to them, they finished. lol

The lights on the buliding look great and it looks alot like down town dallas. The white that is suppose to be the water looks pretty, and this is my favorite piece out of the group.

  47. I am in art 2 and we did not get the chance to make a mosaic. They look like they would have been really fun to make. I started to make one last year but ran out of patience with it.
The one that stands out the most to me is the butterflies. I like the shapes and colors they used. It looks to me like the butterflies are sitting on a wall. I like that they used blue for the butterflies because its different.
I also like the first picture because no one really knows what it is. It stands out from the other pictures. I see a pig, birds, and fish but thats just me.

  48. These mosaics are really cool. Since I wish we could of had the chance to do one ourselves. I remember i made one last year but since I didn’t have that much experience in art, well it did not come out good. Since I am in art 2 now I have more of the view of a mosaic and I think it would of come out better now.
One of the ones that I liked better was the one with the butterflies, because you can actually tell what it is. Also because they did the butterflies of my favorite color. It looks like they did a really clean work of art. It makes me think of like a field of flowers with butterflies just roaming around.
Another one that I liked was the Downtown Dallas skyline. I like it because I can tell exactly what it is. I made a picture of downtown dallas skyline, but it was just a drawing. It was nothing how they did theirs with just pieces of paper and it seems harder than just drawing it.

The mosaic project made me think more about all the art skills that we have learned in class and it was kinda fun at first but it also got boring and fustrating .

my favorite part about the mosaics was getting to see peoples way of thinking and how they put all the colors together .

mine didnt end up in the show in the library because of course it wasnt that good . i had fun and every one did a very good job

The pictures that are shown here are good though. They basically tell a story and have different colors to exaggerate different parts.

For example: One of the mosaics has what look like towers or buildings. They are one color on top and a similar color on bottom, giving it the look of shadows.

I want to make mine look just as good maybe I get mine upo here!

Other people had some really good peices of work. It’s always fun to see a completed piece of art. It makes you bring a smile to your face when you see something cool. And everyone likes to look at something interesting.
All of the different colors bring excitement to the project. And also to your eyes. It’s cool when you see all of the liile shapes make something so big. It’s just amazing.

I had the idea come to me as fast as a racing car tht reaches the end of a race. I was like”Oh i am definately going to do a mosaic over whales and fishes and ocean plants!!! 🙂 Well my classmates alos did a fabulous job with their mosaics by the way. The butterfly Mosaic was done by the Carolina who seats just across from me, so i saw how the piece of art evolved! I truly i guess enjoyed this art classs assignment. 🙂

  57. Creating the mosaics this year was really cool because of all the different patterns that people made. Creating them shows you that you can really make something that looks nice, and you do not even have to be a great artist.

I really liked the one of the butterflies. It has alot of pretty colors, and the background is a nice contrast from black to brown, and a mix of other colors in the brown. crreating the mosaics makes you realize how to use a lot of different colors, and how to make colors flow together. You learn what colors go together, and what colors do not go so well.

When I made my mosaic, it was two dolphins kissing in the water. They were grey, and I tried to make the shades of grey slightly different, and the colors of the water resembled waves crashing through the water. I made the water and the edge of the dolphins appear to be real by making a rounded edge, and having the water flow around the back and front of the dolphin couple.

  59. the one i enjoyed the most was the one with the design of butterflies. It catched the atention of the viewer and is filled with color and value. ITs texture can be seen but was very interesting is how the artist aranged the colors.

it also has its flaws as well. The backrouned should have more color. the butterflies should have more of a shape as actually seen in butterflies. The rouned parts take away part of the visual of the art. The art looks mostly unfinished.

the perfection was in the cold colors, along with the veriatys of brown, wich help audience attention. The different colors used on the butterflies helps keep the audience atention. above all it was a great idea but needed more effort.

  60. All the mosaics that my fellow students made were full of colors and great ideas. Everyone had something different and creative. I did my mosaic on “The Statue Of Liberty” and it came out looking moderate.

The mosaics on this website were all very artistic. The mosaic with the Downtown Dallas skyline was a visionary resemblence of the real one. The boat looked as if it was actually floating on water.

The mosaics gave me a sudden interest in art I hadn’t really enjoyed my art year until then. The mosaics were a different and clever project. You had to imagine things for them to come on to the page. The mosaics all turned out impressive even horrible artists like me had decent outcomes.

  61. The mosaics shown at the top of the website are very good. All of them are expressing a texture and an image that can’t be stransmitted with realistic art. The proper arrangment and spacing make the mosaics even more interesting. The different material used and different shape desings make the mosaics unique.
The mosaic that I really liked was the one of the boat. The drawing by itself was done very good. It’s neatness and proper arragement of the boat and the sky give the picture life. The different arranges of the colors and shapes in the sky give it some movement to the eye of the viewer. It gives it a perspective of the wonder of the sky that real art could not transmitt.
The colors used with the sky and in the boat reflect a meaning. The light colors used with the sky simbolize how clean and bright the sky really is. With the combinaition of a variety of tones of the color blue and white make the sky more contrasting. The boat itself has the same effect and it provides more attraction to the viewer. The overall use of spacing and position of colors made this mosaic good. It is very cool and I enjoyed looking at it. I imagine that doing mosaics can be very fun and hope I can do some good ones like the boat mosaic.

The examples shown on the top are creative. The boat can remind you of a time where you out in a lake or beach.
The butterfly can remind you of a time when you were just out in the day time looking at wildlife.

Looking at many mosaics made me think twice on art and gave me an intrest in art. Maybe one day i’ll be an artist or just do it for fun to pass the time and show my creative side.Art this year was cool but had a substitute for about 11 weeks or so, that wasn’t really cool.(MRS DOBINS)but overall my art 1 experience was cool and learned stuff I did not know before.

  63. I really liked the picture of the boat. It is very simple but, it looks really good. The picture looks simple but the colors that this person used make it look like a folk tale. The diffrent types of shades of brown that he used were very well put in. The shape of the boat makes the picture really show off the size of the paper. The blue background really goes with drawing. The difrent shades of blue makes it look kind of glommy, but makes the setting really good. Leaving the water without any type of color is such a good idea. It makes the boat look like its actually on water. I really like this picture.

I love looking at others art work! The mosaics were very eye catching and creative. Everyone had their own style and creativeness which made their art very interesting.

The boat mosaic reminds me of and endless journey. You cant see the end and you never know where the boat will end up.

Butterflies usually represent a new life and thats exactly what i see in the butterfly mosaic. Its very appealing to the eye and you can instantly spot the butterflies because of their vibrant blue colors.

    • I did not finish my mosiac but the the project was really fun but also very time comsuming and we had very little time to do it. The most of the time was spent cutting all your peices of paper so that your drawing was intresting to look at, almost like an optical allusion. Wheni was glueing i just got all the peices of paper i was going to use for the section of my drawing and put stick glue all over and just started laying peices down randomly. I think thats the way to do it because if you are percise and specfic about where you want your peices it will look more planned, i think it looks better if its randomly laid down because it has more of a artistic look and unpredicable therefore it was its own look.

    • I decided to make it about animals because animals are the most spiritual when they interact with nature and thier surrondings.
I made my color choices based on the way the animal would look when the background would be put in so that the background wouldn’t overpower the main attraction of the artwork and create a sort of balance between the colors of the enviroment and dragonfly.
When I made the Mozaic I influinced it with the sadness I felt and made it all shades of blue and made the enviroment green to make it seem like the friends I had that were influincing me to make me fell better about myself.

This and the lyric of “Welcome to the Machine” often illustrate what hapens to many of us on a daily basis. When I loose my optimism due to fatigue, I find solace in metaphors. When I was your age, I was crazy about Eagles. I did not understand the text and context back then when I lived in Russia, but the tune reached to the core.
