ROOM 219

virtual extension of the ESL classroom

I was away …

I took time to bond with my dog, a Great Dane Bolshaya. We adopted her from a shelter on St. Valentine’s Day, thus adding 100 pounds of sweetness to our family life. Bolshaya is very smart, very pleasant, and very beautiful, too.

With her, I have to step up my performance.

I think she likes philosophy. She took me to the quotations steps in the Celestial Park.
We saluted the Sun.

I don’t have to bend to pet her.

Enjoying a beautiful day.

  1. I love my dogs. I really dont know what i would do without them. I have a black lab and 2 weiner dogs and they are even too much to handle. Ive always been a fan of big dogs, especially Mastifs and Danes.
Ive been wanting to get a bigger dog for a long time. My mom wont let me at least until i move out. If i got to get a big dog like that i would let it sleep in my bed every night. I wish i could adopt a dog like that for cheap.
I hope you and your dog stay happy together for many years to come. Everybody should have a companion to make them happy. It really does make life so much sweeter. life is too rough and harsh to only have yourself and nothing else. I honestly think you wouldnt survive through everything alone.

  2. Having a dog can bring so much joy to your life. They are always there for you waiting and wagging their tails. They show you great amounts of love no matter what. Dogs can always keep a smile on your face.
When you come home from having a really bad day at work or school, a dog can always make you happy. I’ve had a dog since i was about 5 years old and she tends to know when im having a bad day or in a bad mood. She can always make it better just by cuddling up with me and watching tv. As you have a dog for so long you can eventually learn to see what your dog wants or need, such as if they are hungry or need to go outside.
I think that everyone should have a dog, because they are great animals to bond with. They are nothing but bundles of love. i think that dogs are a bright ray of sunshine in everyones life. I hope you and your dog enjoy each other!

    • The day after Valentine’s something happened to my atomic clock. It moved slowly like a crippled old man. Anticipation coiled in a tight knot in my stomach. I couldn’t eat, or sit, or keep a meaningful conversation. There was nothing to do in the spotless house cleaned for the occasion. Finally, she arrived in a slick SUV. A pink glow radiated from the open door. With her first steps, she filled the house with a sweet aroma of farm milk and honey. She looked timid and vulnerable, and she turned my crazy world the right side down.

Bolshaya arrived from the shelter with the words “Rescued With Love” embroidered on her leash. Technically, I rescued her, but in reality my dog rescued me from the middle life crisis.

I’m pleased to be able to connect with you again. Bolshaya is gorgeous, indeed! What are the summer plans? Sorry I am just now responding to your e-mail but, oh boy, has it not been busy?! We should get together for some tea.
Please send my best regards to Alden.

    • What breed is your dog? What’s its name? Bolshaya is my first dog. I’ve been waiting for her all these years. And you know – I am old, kinda. A big dog is a resposibility and a BIG JOY!
