Endings are beginnings in disguise

Enchanted Rock, Fredericksburg, Texas

Mrs. Dodds said in December 2009:
With the approaching end of this year as well as the beginning of the new one I often find myself thinking reliving memories of the year and immediately pondering how that will lead to something new. For example, recently my family spent several days in the Hill Country (around Austin) exploring incredible natural wonders; Enchanted Rock and Pedernales Falls. As I remember the adventures we had I also think about where our next trip will be (my sons vote for caves with bats).

An old Mexican saying: Endings are beginnings in disguise.
Do you have a memory from 2009 that you think will lead to a new experience in 2010?

My response to Mrs. Dodds: Yes, I do.
I agree that endings are beginnings in disguise. My memorable experiences that support this idea are many. I’d like to share with the readers of this blog my adventure on the Web.
Blogging is an on-going proof that one thing leads to another. I write and publish a post. My job as a writer has been completed with a publication, yet each post is just a beginning of a discussion. My students write excellent comments. Each discussion brings new ideas and a desire to write about them in the next post. A complete post is a promise of the future conversation on-line.
Last year I learned about Twitter. This technology is like a mini blog with each post having 140 characters or less. When Twitter became very popular, I opened an account planning to use it in my classes. In 2010, I will use Twitter to teach my students how to summarize texts. Follow me on Twitter – .

  1. Not only is this the beginning of a new year; it is the beginning of a new decade. I’ve been thinking about where I was 10 years ago, and where I want to be 10 years from now. I have created a display of future technology books at the Nimitz Library. Engineering students will be coming next semester to research emerging technologies and what the world might be like in 10 years. I also put many career books in the display case with the banner reading “2010 -2010″ New Decade – New Opportunities … What will You become?” I hope more students start thinking about their future and how they can make the world a better place.

I was planing to do a film about the story of my grandmother. But i could’n do it because I had personal reasons.
This year I want to do that film I think is a great way to teld the story and is very symbolic to my grandmother and is also great to others to know what was goin on back in the old generations.

  4. “Endings are beginnings indisguise.”

In 2009, I made a film with Erendida using movie maker. This film was about how to save the planet. I remember how we learned and care about the world around us. Also I recall when Erendida and i took videos and pictures of plants and flowers. These plants were green and yellow. It was ponder to use movie maker to make the film.Because the project was contemplate a success i feel more confident about using the program again this year.In fact, i am so comfortable with it that my future films will be more elaborate. What i thought was finished when the assignment was done was actually the start of a new way of making presentations.
Also this year i want to memory all text the i have to speak during a film.

    • You have excellent ideas and very mature vocabulary. However, if I were you, I would review sentence structure to make sure that all sentences and clauses have subject and verbs in agreement and smooth transitions. I agree. It’s important to memorize both the words you say in front of the camera and presentations for an audience. The more your memorize the more developed your memory gets. These days memorization is not popular, but when I was a student we had to memorize long poems, Algebra and Geometry formulas, passages from novels, quotes by famous people. All this knowledge has been a valuable resource all my life.
I’ll be looking forward to your new film. You did a great job for the “Planet” movie and your shots of the Angel Tree doors were a true inspiration for the film.

    • In the last year, I chose to recycle, because it’s fun. I thought it was just for dumb people, but now I think that I’m not the only one who enjoys doing this. But I think that I have to do more for my community. I hope could be able to do more. I want to have a great experience of this, I want to have a extraordinary experience that I doing. I hope that the people ponder about the importance of recycling. If everybody could recycle I’m sure that we will have a better world for us.
That is just the begining of one incredible experience.

  5. When the year is ending and a new one is starting, people start thinking what they did wrong, that they can remediate in the new year. Recently some students and teachers made an angel tree, where they adopt a child to give him/her some gifts, but my class didn’t want to do that. When I heard how fascinated those kids were, I consider to be part of that angel tree next Christmas. As I remember those people talking about the kids, I also visualize their happy faces opening the presents.
That make me ponder how the next Christmas would be, by being part of that wonderful activity.“Endings are beginnings in disguise” things that happened in the past, sometimes makes you change your mind about what are you going to do in the future.

    • The beginning of a year is a good time to recall what we did, and what we didn’t done that we could have done, and maybe this is a good time to look back and try to do the things that we didn’t do.

  6. In 2009, I remember many times when my mom and her husband and my brothers were so excited about seeing movies at night. We were so bored but a movie could bring the mood up.
We haven’t nothing to do sp we watch many movies at home and we watch like 3 movies at the cinema, we haven’t enough money for the 7 of us so we pay just for one movie and the others we get to see the movies free, like we didnt pay for those movies we just get at the movies.

  7. Endings are beginnings in disguise

Last year I made a film about a millionaire using my computer & the program movie maker in Nimitz High School I explored the movie maker.

As I remember the last adventure making the film I also ponder ideas for a new movie.

  9. In 2009,I remember when I first used the Go! Animate web page.It was on biology class,we where doing an animated cartoon. The assingment about cells functions, and I tkink it had to be at least 3 minutes long.
First we had to creat an anncount. Some of the students had a parther,i had one,so we made it togher.I like to work with her.
Our cartoon wasn’t to long,so we didn’t make a good grade.Others students made a really good grade, there cartoon was more longer than our’s.
Next time,I would like to make another one,in any class, but this time I think I’am do better.
