ROOM 219

virtual extension of the ESL classroom

Film! Film! Film!

A powerful way to tell a story is through film. Three levels – video, sound, and text – contribute to your narrative. Writing process is crucial for film. Original ideas and attention to detail play an important role, too. We’ve been working hard on the Viking Tale. Finally we are approaching the release day, Monday, May 4th. Write a blog comment to share your thoughts about project.
What did you learn?

What was your biggest challenge or difficulty?

  8. I learned a great deal about human psychology. I was delighted to see how students did their best and passed the test of character. We found truly talanted writers, actors, actresses, camera men, and set designers. Creative approach to problem solving was the most enjoyable aspect of the project. The biggest hardship was finding the Viking song. Unfortunately, it is still a problem. (If anybody has an audio file or know somebody who has it, the production crew will be infinitely thankful.)
This was my first experience with motion pictures. A to-do list for the future is long. Two things are on top of the list: a total ban on “Google-it” approach and storage solutions for huge video files.
