We Are What We Eat

You may agree or disagree with the title of this post, but the role of nutrition in individual lives and on a global scale is being discussed widely both privately and in the media. Is ketchup a vegetable? Does the choice of food affect your learning? Is a balanced diet on a small budget possible?  What can you learn about world cultures exploring ethnic restaurants?

Today’s reading selections are all about different aspects of food and nutrition. For the culminating activity you will read a short selection. First, read the story. As you read, pay attention how the author supports his claim. Second, reread it and circle signal (transition) words. Third, read the question: Why is “Know What’s Good for You” a good title for this selection? Plan and write your answer as a blog comment and support it with evidence from the selection. Remember SLAMS! Check all the rubrics before you submit your comment.
