Troubled by a dramatic change in reading level in Russia, four creative artists in St.Petersburg, Russia locked themselves inside a cage in the city zoo and read books aloud to the public in exchange for bananas and cookies. The two-day performance Homo Litteratus was their unconventional way to deliver this message:  a reading man is under the threat of extinction.   Visitors, both kids and adults, interacted with the representatives of the rare social species reciting poems back and promising to buy a new book for their home libraries.
